Sean L. Davenport, Ed.D

Sean L. Davenport, Ed.D., is an experienced K-12 educator currently serving as a Leadership Development Coach for the New York City Department of Education. Before transitioning to a Leadership Development Coach, he served as principal of the Thurgood Marshall Academy for Learning and Social Change (TMA), a 6-12 school located in Harlem, New York.  Before assuming the principalship at the high school, Dr. Davenport was the founding principal of the Thurgood Marshall Academy Lower School, a K-5 school in Harlem, New York, that emphasized cultural awareness and culturally responsive teaching and learning.  The schools were created in partnership with The Abyssinian Development Corporation, New Visions for Public Schools, and The New York City Department of Education. Under Dr. Davenport's leadership, Thurgood Marshall Academy graduated their first pipeline K-12 cohort in June of 2018.

 

Dr. Davenport received his Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Arts Degree from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va. A Master's Degree in Education from Fordham University and a Doctorate in Education Degree in Executive Leadership from St. John Fisher College.
